Prionailurus viverrinus (fishing cat) is typically found in wetland areas. To date, there are few records even when intensive camera trapping have been done. It is now very rarely encountered in south east asia (4 months of camera trapping even failed to capture one shot) and it may no longer occur in pakistan. This 'fishing' cat does not only prey on fish but other small mammals as well. Threats to their habitats include clearing of mangroves or pollution due to human settlements. The skin was illegally traded and some fisherman even ate them as they had stole fishes from the fisherman. The status has been changed from vulnerable to endangered due to its rare encounter in south east asia (more info click on the image)
Aware that many families in Malawi live on less than a dollar day, Richard goes to a country market to see what a family of five can buy with a dollar. There’s lots of good-looking food but he can’t buy much. Stopping off at a hospital nearby, he sees one of the results of this situation: child malnutrition.
